General strategy of glycosylation for α/β-alkyl-glucoside synthesis via chemical routes. Global protection (GP) of all hydroxyl groups using acetic anhydride/sodium acetate, aldehydes, acetals or benzoyl halides at 140°C. Activation step involves exchange of anomeric group by bromine (Br), fluorine (F), Iodine (I), Thiophenol (SPh) or tricholoroacetamide. Deprotection of final product by sodium methoxide in methanol.
