Screening of lipases. Crude coffee oil (0.5 g) and ethanol were taken in the molar ratio of 1:4. 10% (w/w of oil) different “straight from the bottle” lipases were added. Aliquots were taken out after 4 h and analyzed by GC as described in materials and methods section. The experiments were done in duplicates and the error between the two sets was within 3%. Lipases are abbreviated as follows: lipase from Pseudomonas cepacia: PS, PS C (lipase immobilized on ceramic particle), PS D (lipase immobilized on diatomaceous earth), Lipase from Candida rugosa: lipase AYS; immobilized form of lipase from CAL B: Novo-435, Rhizomucor miehei lipase immobilized on macroporous anion exchange resin: RMIM; Lipase from Mucor javanicus: Lipase M; Lipase from Aspergillus niger: Lipase AP12; Lipase from Penicillium camemberti: Lipase G.
